This is a Pair of High Quality Poultry Shears marked Adolph Blaich / San Francisco, who was a Retailer. We would date these from the 1880's - 1890's. They have what looks like real Horn on the handles and have a sturdy Locking Latch. They are marked on the side of the handles, on either side of the spring. And on the opposite side, they are made by & marked J S Holler & Co Germany. These Poultry Shears are very heavy and are made Very Well to Last. They measure 9 3/4" in length, measure 1 7/8" in the middle part the Handle is 4 7/8" long and the Shears are 4 7/8" long. They are in really good condition and appear to have hardly been used. The Adolph Blaich Company was known for it's Cutlery and Sporting Goods. In a 1880's Catalog, Adolph Blaich Inc / Arrow Brand (Razor Steel) / Exclusively Wholesale / 583 Market Street / San Francisco, California, they advertise having in stock and specializing in Cutlery, Knives, Fishing Tackle, Sporting Goods,Outing Equipment. Adolph Blaich did a lot Trading with Miners of supplies and early Knives. This was during the San Francisco Klondike Gold Rush era, the Miners heading to Alaska in the 1890's. We found a Rare Old San Francisco Bowie Knife with Sheath listed on the Internet that was made by J S Holler & Retailer Adolph Blaich.
