This is a Gorgeous 1890's French Hand Painted Cracker / Biscuit Jar that is decorated with (2) Different types of Orchids on the front and Back of this piece. The Artful Painting on this Jar is just exceptional, painted with Cattalya Orchids on one side and Dendrobium Orchids on the other side. The Artist painted this piece in a Matt Finish of soft Pale Pastel Colors of Creams, Yellows, Greens, Pink and Lavender. With lots of Gold decoration and Gold Stippling on the top of the Jar which is a scalloped design with a Cream Peach Fancy Border with a Gold line outlined around the Jar. It has (2) Fancy Rococo Leaf shaped handles on either side of the Jar that are encrusted in Gold. The background changes to a pale slightest hint of green with the Hand Paintings of the Orchids. It has a large wide scalloped, wavy Border painted in thick Gold, it then shades into stippled spots of Gold and shades into Cream Peach. It has a Gold line outlined at the bottom, almost at the edge. The Lid is a fancy designed one as well. It has a curled Rococo Leaf like Handle on the top of the Lid, which is encrusted in thick Gold and has the (2) different Orchids on either side of the Lid and having a Gold line outlined on the very edge. This Piece of Pottery has such Soft and pale Pastel colors and the Heavy Gold Trim, which gives it an dreamy matt impressionism Painting effect. This Piece has the mark on the bottom of S282 + and a long rectangular bar on the bottom. We can not make out the Mark it has on the bottom. It is in really great condition, other than 3 little teeny chips on the rim of the Jar. It is similar to the soft matt colors in pieces of Royal Worcester.
