This is a very Rare Silverplated cracked open Egg and Wishbone Individual Salt manufactured by The Pairpoint Mfg. Co. The egg is 2" in length, it is 1 1/8" across width opening of egg and 1 3/8" in length of opening of egg. It is 1 7/8" across the bottom of the base and the Wishbone is 1 3/8" tall. This Company started out doing business in 1880 as the Pairpoint Mfg. Co. with Edward D. Mandel as the President. Thomas J. Pairpoint for whom the company was named. Pairpoint served his apprenticeship in Paris and later worked for the prominent firm of Lambert & Rawlings in London. He became the chief designer for the Gorham Manufacturing Company from about 1868 until the late 1870's. During this time he designed many pieces of the Gorham Company's regular line as well as special Exhibition pieces. Pairpoint was one of the most skillful and artistic designers of the present day, having a reputation that was World Wide. In 1894 the Mount Washington Glass company became part of the Pairpoint organization. This adorable Egg Salt Cellar is in fine condition with no damage. We have not polished the salt, but it appears to be in reasonably good condition.
