Rookwood Scenic Vellum vase painted by Frederick D. Rothenbusch, dated 1924.
This is a superlative vase in all respects: shape, painting and condition. Worthy of any collection of Rookwood Pottery or Art Pottery or as part of an American Arts and Crafts Movement decor.
The shape is unusual and one of Rookwood's most attractive, with a well defined foot, an urn shaped body and a broad flaring lip. The painting is excellent, with subtle shades of blue including a deep indigo, many shades of green, yellow, an unusual violet/brown in the tree trunks.
The condition is excellent plus: there are no chips or cracks and, unlike many Rookwood vellum vases, there is no crazing.
The vase measures 6" high.
