Beautiful and early Rookwood Pottery vase.
This elegant pear shaped has a flared rim and two handles that end in scrolls.
It is decorated in a light versions of the Standard Glaze, with leaves and berries. The coloring and detail of the painting is exemplary. Their is an incised c.s., which I think must be for Caroline Steinle. Steinle's initials usually are intertwined, so this is either a variant of her initials or an unknown artist. The date and style are right for Steinle, so I think she decorated this piece.
Additionally, there is the RP mark with 6 flames above it, which dates the piece to 1892.
Excellent condition. About 5 3/8" tall.
