English Moorcroft Pottery yellow lustre biscuit or cookie jar.
Moorcroft made the yellow lustre line for a short time, around 1915. This piece has a graceful shape with a nicely defined foot and a silver plated rim and swing handle. The lustre glaze is a lovely shade of yellow, with green undertones.
The rim is marked by the maker, William Hutton & Sons (1893 - 1930).
Height about 6" without the handle, about 9" with the handle up. No maker's mark, as is common in the yellow lustre line. Absolutely guaranteed to be Moorcroft Pottery.
No chips or cracks. The glaze has crazing, which is common on the yellow lustre line. The silverplate cover is gone.
