Large and impressive American tole tea caddy.
Circa early to mid 19th Century, this painted tin (toleware) tea caddy features a very graphic hand painted design of leaves and flowers (or perhaps fruit) in colors of orange, yellow and green, on a black asphaltum background.
This piece measures 7 3/4" tall by 4 1/4" diameter, quite large for a tea caddy.
The condition is excellent with minor nicks and scratches, as shown. The inside lid has a residue of green paint. The bottom is rusted, but still solid.
