Fine Continental Beidermeier mirror, circa early 19th Century.
Wonderful Beidermeier mirror with book matched inlay. The mirror is set behind concave turned pillars, which play off the similarly concave turnings on the top molding. Above the top moldings the shape is triangular, creating a nice interplay of curves and geometric shapes. The mirror retains the original metal hangar, which is attached with rosehead nails.
Although this piece dates to the early 19th century, it has a look which could fit nicely in a modernist decor.
The overall condition is excellent, given the age. There is one inlaid triangular patch on the front, measuring about 1" x 3/8", and some age cracks to the inlay.
Overall measurements are about 23" x 14"
