This two little pieces of furniture come from the Finistere, more precisely from the region of Quimper, where they were manufactured from around 1920 to 1960.
They are the exact replica of furniture that could be found in Breton houses for several centuries.
The first one is a table with a sliding plateau which reveals a kind of chest, which, at the time allowed to keep bread and other food.
Today,it can be used to store all the little treasures of your doll.
Like all pieces of furniture of this kind,it is made of dark carved wood, oak wood ,or maybe chestnut very used in Brittany, with an openwork wheel decor and small bobbins.
The plateau is engraved with a floral motif, and the two sides are embellished with a carved flower.
It slides thanks to two wooden guides and is completely removable.
This charming table is in good condition.Just note a little old repair ,almost invisible,on a leg of the table.
Dimension : 5,5’’ total height ((14cm)
plateau is 10’’ x 6’’ (25cm x 15,5cm)
chest is 8’’ x 4’’ (20cm x 10cm)
The second piece is a little rocking cradle perfect for laying down or presenting your little dolls.
It is the same provenance, with similar patterns and very few difference, only the wood color is a little lighter.
Under there is a stamp with houses, windmill,a tree and a written sentence ‘’Marque de fabrique deposée’’ which corresponds to the important factory of miniature Breton furniture LE GOFF-GUILLOU located at Plozevet in FInistère from 1931. The windmill was used to operate the wood turning machines.
Uncommon and economical way of functioning !
This little cradle is in good condition.
Dimension : 9’’ long (23cm)
4,7’’ width at the top (12cm)
5,4’’ high (13,5cm)
