These two charming sewing items are French sea-side souvenirs, very popular at the end of the 19th century.
The needle case ,in shape of book, has a very pretty pattern of flower, entirely made of shells, with different colors and shapes, surrounded by golden paper and glued on two sheets of cardboard. It is joined by a piece of velvet.
Inside, there is a little piece of felt, very worn,to prick the needles.
Three loops in velvet allow you to slide a tiny pencil to close the case, but it is missing.
Except for a few small lack of shells, this pretty case is in good antique condition.
It s 2,7’’ x 1,9’’ (6,8cm x 5cm)
The pin cushion is made with a nice mother of pearl shell glued on a hard cardboard, covered with purple velvet.
It is marked Havre, an important French harbor from where transatlantic ships departed.
A small cord ,underneath, allowed to hang it.
It is in good condition. 1,6’’ x 1,2’’ (4cm x 3cm)
Two charming items, perfect for a sewing accessories collection.
