This is an amazing papier- mache shoulder head doll from the 1850s, with leather body and wooden arms and legs.
The all original bust head is in good condition for age, only a thin crack at the base of the neck and some patina wear on the face.
She has black painted modeled hair with loops on the forehead ,pretty black glass eyes, and a charming red painted closed mouth.
The leather of the body has been changed and I think it is the only repair on the doll. The wooden arms and legs are all original and in good antique condition, the pretty blue shoes show some lack of paint.
At the junction of the right arm,a small piece of metal rod came out through the leather, tearing it slightly.
Please,see the details photos.
The doll wears a charming white thin cotton dress (there is a little hole on the front) embellished with English lace and a large ecru silk ribbon with blue polka dots.
A pantaloon completes the outfit ,please note that the lace at the bottom is a little damaged.
