This spectacular majolica tureen or ‘’soupière’’comes from the Wasmuël faience manufacture in Belgium. This model was produced between 1887 and 1914.
It’s decorated all around with different vegetables: carrots, turnips, onions…and others, and three mascarons at the top of the lid.
The handles are shaped animal head, maybe lions.
There is a blue mark ‘’D’’ under the tureen and inside the lid,but no manufacture mark.
There is a small crack on the inner edge of the lid which is not very visible from the outside, and a lack of enameling due to manufacturing.Except these small defects and some enamel cracks inside the tureen , due to age ,it’s in good condition.
It’s about 9,06 inches high (23cm) and 10,63 inches at the widest (27cm).
This is a really beautiful piece for a barbotine’s collector or soup’s lover!
