Antique travel perfume casket with two hand blown cut crystal perfume bottles. The perfume bottles are in wonderful condition with only very minor flea bites and a few minor abrasions. The casket the perfumes are held in has a heavy leaded and beveled glass front and the container is lined with red velvet.I believe the exterior used to also be red velvet and it has worn away. The casket is almost 4 inches tall, 3.5 inches wide, and 2 inches deep. The hardware appears a gold tone metal with no corrosion. The brads appear to be a darker metal. The stoppers are not stuck. One bottle has a brown oily perfume residue that is fragrant.I wonder if what it smells like now is what it originally smelled like? I am amazed at how delicate the hand ground stoppers are and that they have never been broken! I am not sure what the bottom of the casket is, it may be leather. According to my clients' family lore this item dates to the 1840s'.
