A pretty ring from the late Victorian period. The ring is made from 15ct gold and has a wonderful ornate pierced gallery that holds five opals that are graduated in size. The opals display a lovely subtle array of colours, from blues to reds, and are perfectly offset by little diamond chips. A classic late Victorian/early Edwardian design, the ring can be worn stacked or alone.
There is a hallmark on the inside of the shank. There is a date letter, which I believe to be from Chester in 1895, though the location stamp is no longer part of the hallmark. This is based on the type of the letter and the shape that it sits in.
