Continental began in 1943 in Montreal, Canada and was opened by Sam Baker and Sol Mayoff. Continental's main competition was Sherman, using less rhinestones and lower pricing they became one of the main fashion sources for the Canadian market. It was sold through major department stores like The Bay, Eaton's and Birk's. They were in business until 1997 when it was sold to a business in the Far East.
