Very old and very interesting brooch from Western Germany of a big horn sheep standing on foliage. The gold and black drawing looks like it has been outlined in very fine black lines and then filled in with the gold color. I don't think it is paint but am at a loss for what it could be and my research turned up nothing to compare it to. This is on a very white background of a very lightweight plastic. The ornate oval edging has a white coating which could be paint but some of it has worn off letting the gold tone show through. The backing is a thin gold tone metal and it has the old simple c clasp closure which still works but the pin is somewhat bent. I see one area that has a small spot of gold loss which is on the left hand side just above the leg. So I would say it is still in good condition for the age of it. It is 2" long and 11/2" wide. Good conversation piece!
