Antique Chinese Embroidered Scent Purse Blue Forbidden Stitch Purse 1800's
Offered is an antique Chinese Scent Purse from the 1800's. It is dark blue with embroidery in blues and beige and pale gold. The embroidered is done in the Forbidden stitch. I believe the dark blue to be silk. Inside is lined with a coarse material either cotton or linen. The drawstrings are a dark green woven cord with off white and blue accents and 1 side having a pink stone. Both front and back have the same embroidery.This is one of my favorite pieces.
It measures 4 1/4 inches across and is 3 inches tall.
Condition is fair as the edges on both front and back have lost some of the dark blue silk threads. There is also wear to the high points on the folds. Small outline thread has come undone and is loose. Please view all photos for details.
