This is a magnificent French parlor set from the beginning of the 20th century inspired of the Empire period more or less a century earlier. This stunning set is made of solid and lovely patinaed mahogany and is a tribute of the famous french campaign in Egypt by Napoleon. This set is covered by a striped fabric highlighted by the classical victory wreath. This set consists of a pair of side chairs with a pair of armchairs and a sofa. The side chairs are elegantly simple and mounted with bronze ormulus commonly called thyrse as well as acanthus leaves and rosettes. The armchairs have the same features of the side chairs with the arms interestingly supported by winged sphinxes (typical of the style). The sofa features the same type of armrest and can sit two persons. Note all of the pieces are standing on claw feet. Minor scratches and dents can be seen here and there on the frame due to the age. The fabric is estimated be a couple of decade old and in a slightly used condition. Circa 1900-1910.
