This is a very interesting Chest of Drawers, made during the French period Empire of Napoleon at the beginning of the 19th century. It is originally coming from northern Italy from the former French client state "The Kingdom of Italy" (1805-1814). While Napoleon was the Emperor of the French, he was also granted the title of King of Italy a year later. This elegantly simple commode is topped by its original French Black (Noir Francais) marble, coming from the city of Hon-Hergies in northern France. The marble is sitting upon a step-back facade, highlighted by bronze ormulus typical of the era. A spacious storage capacity is offered thanks to four large drawers with central handles and an additional secret drawer hidden in the pediment. Note the volute and floral patterns flanking the facade. Wear consistent with age and use. Circa date 1805-1814. Dimensions 40"high/ 49"wide/ 22½”"deep. Layaway available for this item.
