This is a magnificent and tall Buffet Deux Corps made from solid and beautifully patinaed oak by the middle part of the 19th century. Such buffet is commonly called Scene De Chasse (hunting scene) by the French. This impressive piece is boasting a breathtaking embellishment typical of the Renaissance revival period from the upper part featuring a splendid pair of doors mounted with their original glass panes, to the buffet below, intricately highlighted with a detailed 2-drawer frieze, sculpted in high relief, upon a stunning pair of recessed paneled doors centering hunting trophies. Note the pierced sculpted brackets separating both sections. Beside the outstanding visual impact, this antique is also very convenient and offers a spacious storage capacity. Several scratches and dents can be seen due to the age. Locks on the upper and bottom doors are in working order. Circa date 1850-1860. Dimensions 96”high/ 53”wide/ 24”deep.
