This is a magnificent and impressively sculpted Panel, originally the foot board of a bed, made from solid and exquisitely walnut during the second half of the 19th century. This stunning piece is boasting a breathtaking embellishment, typical of the Louis XV Rococo style, and consists of an arched frame centering a beautiful acanthus shaped medallion surrounding a splendid urn (Commonly called Cassolette by the French). While originally the foot board of a bed, this piece can be mounted on the wall to make a splendid headboard. Minor scratches and dents can be seen here and there due to the age. Circa date 1860-1870. Dimensions 28"high/ 64"wide/ 5"deep.
