This is a magnificent pair of middle part of the 19th Century Twin Bed Headboards made during the Napoleon III era boasting a stunning embellishment and a beautifully patinaed walnut veneer. Each is mounted with a massive and boldly sculpted crest depicting the classical heraldic shield with draperies (typical of the Napoleon III period) standing upon the central panel which was originally mounted with an oil painting of the owners, husband and wife, removed indeed by their relatives, all highlighted by intricately sculpted olive tree branches indicating the south of France. Note minor scratches, dents and a few chips on the branches can be seen due to the age. Circa date 1860. Dimensions 28"high/ 44"wide/ 5"deep.
