Brass barometer with gimbal. This is a fully working brass stick barometer, mid 20th century, fully lacquered, 36" tall, on a working gimbal with a knob activated vernier for precise readings. The gimbal, which should be screwed to the wall (or bulkhead, if you are in a yacht) allows the barometer to tilt left and right, as well as forwards and backwards, or if the ship is moving, permits the barometer to remain stationary so that the mercury level can be read easily. A fine and impressive working nautical instrument. Alternatively, it can be purchased WITHOUT its glass and mercury tube, for decorative purposes, at a lesser price. Please ask about this option.
