Modernist sterling silver and black onyx beaded necklace and earring set. The necklace consists of a beautiful fan shaped centerpiece, that reminds me of a bird with it's wings spread. It is made of sterling silver, with a ribbed copper strip down the center and on oval cabochon onyx stone set in the top center. There are three strands of onyx beads. They are attached to one side of the back of the centerpiece, with a bar shaped hook on the other side, which hooks onto a loop on the back. The necklace measures approximately 16 inches in total length, with the centerpiece being 2.12 inches wide by 1.5 inches tall. It lays beautifully around the neck. The earrings are slightly fan shaped, with brass overlay on one side, and a ribbed copper strip down the center, and measure approximately 1 inch long. They are for pierced ears and have nice large earring clutches. The pieces are all marked sterling, are handmade, and have been signed by the artist, Lorraine Lenskold. This striking set dates to the late 20th century.
