Art Deco Nippon china tea set for six. This pretty, pink, simply styled set consists of six tea cups and saucers, a teapot, a covered sugar bowl, and a creamer. The simple, hand painted, square design is done in bright pink on a crisp white ground, with gold trim. The bottom of each piece is marked hand painted, and carries the Nippon back stamp that dates the set to between 1890-1921. Based on the style, I'm dating it to 1920. The set is in great condition, with no chips, cracks, or hairlines. There is some wear to the gold trim, particularly on the handles, to be expected for it's age. One of the cups has a minor manufacturing defect near the rim, just mentioned for accuracy. There is a slight difference in the pink between the base of the sugar and creamer, and the rest of the set.
