Gorgeous bronze gilded trinket box with an oval hand painted portrait of a young maiden, entitled 'Enundaissment', after Asti. The beautiful young maiden, with long flowing hair, is partially nude, wearing only a sheer pale pink garment. She is painted in profile, facing left. The portrait is skillfully painted, and is signed on the center right hand side. I wasn't able to make out the signature, but the quality of the painting is similar to that of the most well known of porcelain miniature painters, Wagner. The beautiful box has woven background on the top and bottom, with beautiful details at the corners, and an interesting nail head design around the sides. The box was most likely made in France, but the portrait may be of German origin.
The portrait measures approximately 1.5 inches wide by 1.87 inches tall, with the overall size of the box being 2.38 inches wide x 2.75 inches long x 1 inch tall. The portrait is in perfect condition, as is the box. It still has it's original velvet lining, which is in excellent overall condition except for what appears to be an ink mark in the upper right hand corner of the velvet on the lid.
