Antique, jeweled porcelain portrait plate of a young woman. This gorgeous porcelain plate features a portrait of a young woman, seated, holding a bouquet of delicate flowers in her hands. Her dark hair is adorned with blue flowers, and she wears a long beaded dress. The portrait is surrounded with a Tiffany finish, gilded with aqua jeweled beads. The outer edge of the border is decorated with flowers on an ivory background, trimmed with gold. The plate measures 8.5 inches in diameter. The condition is very good no chips or cracks, only small areas of loss to some of the jewels, and one missing jewel. It is marked on the reverse, Prov Saxe E S (Erdmann Schlegelmilch) Germany. The mark was used from 1902 to 1937. I believe this piece dates to sometime between 1902 and 1910. When I obtained this plate from an estate auction, it was glued into a shadow box. I removed it from the box, and there is still some glue residue on the footed rim of the plate.
