Beautiful hand painted Kutani bowl by the master artist Taniguchi. It features three cranes perched on pine cone trees in the foreground, with Mt. Fuji in the background, and there are two cranes flying off in the distance. The subject is painted against a pale pink ground, with red and gold enamel decorating the rim of the bowl. The shallow bowl is footed, and measures 8 inches in diameter and just under 2 inches in height. The famous master artist who decorated this bowl is Taniguchi Komakichi, 1873 - 1925. It dates to the late Meiji period 1868 - 1912 or Taisho period 1912 - 1926. The bowl is decorated on the underside and signed Taniguchi Kutani Sei. Other than some very tiny losses to the enamel border, the bowl is in excellent condition.
