Antique2Estate Jewels
is now SOLDExquisite Victorian amethyst cross in 14 karat rose gold. This cross appears to be all handmade with each stone individually set in a collet style mounting. The natural amethysts are a deep, velvety purple with terrific saturation of color. Just rich and beautiful. There are a total of six amethysts, each one a slightly different size. At first I thought they were a sugarloaf cabochon cut. Looking closer, I realized they were actually faceted. I would call them an antique rectangular cut. They measure approximately 9.1 x 6.9mm, 9.1 x 7.0mm,
9.1 x 7.0mm, 9.1 x 7.2mm, 9.2 x 6.9mm, and 9.1 x 6.9mm. They have an approximate total weight of thirteen-fifteen carats for the six stones. The cross measures approximately 1 1/2” high and 1” wide at its widest point. It weighs 5.4 grams. The cross is unmarked but has been gently tested to to be 14 karat gold. The jump ring tests 10 karat gold. The condition is excellent vintage with only very slight wear. I have not polished it. This cross makes a statement with its depth of color and size. A gem of a find. Simply beautiful.
