A lovely vintage strand of round, Mikimoto cultured pearls. The necklace is 16” long and the cultured pearls are 7.5-8mm. They are cultured, Japanese Akoya, salt water pearls. They are very well matched in color, cleanliness and size. They are very clean and, although some people might call these white, I believe they are a light cream color with silver undertones. They have very good luster. There is a total of forty-five cultured pearls. The Mikimoto clasp is sterling silver and has the Mikimoto hallmark, M, on the back along with a small s. The clasp has 4.4mm cultured pearl in the center and the silver appears to be hand engraved. The necklace weighs 33.1 grams. It comes in its original, fitted, deep red velvet box with blue and cream interior. I believe these cultured pearls were originally purchased in Japan. They look like they were hardly worn as the knotting is still very tight.
You don’t see this size in Vintage Mikimoto very often. Usually they are smaller or graduated. I was thrilled to get these. Such a beautiful necklace.
