This antique Victorian brooch is three-dimensional, featuring a flowing leaf design. It was shaped over a curved mold and is 3/8" thick. It is 1 1/4" wide and 2" long, weighing 5.9 grams. The metal is sterling silver with a gold overlay, polished to a soft gloss. This is called "silver-gilt" or "vermeil." There are hallmarks on the back of this hand-wrought pin along with initials etched with a stylus. The fittings include a very long tube hinge, a C-catch, and an extended pin bar, all features of pins made between 1860 and 1890. This pin is probably English in origin. It is in excellent vintage condition with no issues.
