This tabletop picture frame is early twentieth century in date of origin. It is wood with an overlay of pierced brass. The brass sheet has been pierced by an awl in a design of grapes and leaves on a trellis. The brass has been carefully folded over the wooden interior and tacked down. The frame is 8 1/8" X 10 1/8" and holds an oval photo. The opening is slightly larger than 3 1/2" X 5." There is glass over the photo, which is a vintage one. It is possibly the original photo, but I did not open this frame up to see. The backing is leatherette which has been attached to the wood with three brass brads. There were four, but one is missing. The leatherette backing would need to be removed to replace the photo, and then re-attached. The easel is sturdy brass wire bent into shape and held to the leatherette backing with a clever little hinge. The easel is functional but fragile. This hand-crafted item is in fine vintage condition.
