This quilt is a real find for someone who wants a vintage quilt to fit a queen or king sized bed. These large beds began coming into use during the 1960's. Thus, few king or queen were made before 1960; those that turn up are usually antique quilts of museum quality, too fragile and expensive to actually use on your bed. This quilt measures 90" wide by 100" long. (It is photographed on a full sized bed with a 54" X 74" mattress.) The quilt is in perfect, unused condition. Pencil lines are still visible along the lines of hand-quilting (these wash out). The quilt is 100% cotton and is machine washable. It may also be dried in the dryer. The colorful and varied cotton prints include those made between 1930 and 1960. This quilter had an extensive scrap bag at her disposal. There is no synthetic fabric. This quilt dates around 1960. It was made by a skilled quilter (quilting is 8-9 stitches per inch); it is also completely hand pieced. The binding is blind-stitched. This quilt was found in the Chicago suburbs.
