This lovely cast sterling brooch is in the form of a hibiscus flower. It has five petals and a beautiful textured pod in the center. The silver work is of very high quality, and there is minute detail work. The pin has darkened attractively with age. The maker, Guglielmo Cini, was an American jeweler working in New York during the twentieth century. He emigrated to the U.S. from Italy when he was a youth; the Italian influence is evident in his work. He was one of the best, and this pin shows his scope. It is 2" X 2" and weighs 17.3 grams. It is marked "Gumps sterling designed by G. Cini." Gumps is a fine San Francisco store, and Cini designed for them. This pin is around 50-75 years old. It is in excellent original condition.
