This large, chunky amber pin is ca. 1930's, complete with its original fittings of base metal. It was imported to the U.S. from Poland or one of the other countries bordering the Baltic sea; this type of opaque, yellow amber is mined from the icy cold water of the Baltic. The large amber piece has been smoothly polished on the front; the back less so. There are four smaller polished chunks of butterscotch amber dangling from the main chunk; these are attached by twisted white metal wires. The pin measures 2" across by 3 1/4" long by 1/2" thick. It is very light-weight, only 15.5 grams, making it easy to wear.
