This hand-wrought silver brooch is surely of pre-World War II Mexican origin, even though it is marked only "950." Early Mexican pieces can also be 980 as well as sterling; it is an identifying characteristic. This pin is in the shape of bluebells with the bells formed of inlaid lapis lazuli of high quality, and the leaves formed of malachite. The design is simple; the workmanship excellent. There is no safety catch but a wide, secure C-catch, indicating an early twentieth century origin. The pin is in excellent original condition. It measures 1 1/2" across and 1" high; it weighs 6.7 grams.
