Here is a beautiful, expertly made vintage quilt dating from around 1920. It is constructed of diamond-shaped pieces in the form of an eight-pointed star. The colors of yellow, butterscotch, and orange are arranged in such a way that the star has a radiant quality. The colors are soft, giving this quilt a visually soothing effect. The quilt is machine-pieced; its fine workmanship is proven by the fact that the quilt lies perfectly flat and square. The tiny quilting (12 stitches per inch!) sets off the star with its feather wreath border and feather circle designs in the corners and white spaces. The backing is a lovely tangerine color. This 100% cotton quilt measures 74" X 78" and will fit a full-sized bed. It is washable. It is in excellent original condition. This quilt came from a Chicago collection.
