This early twentieth-century ladies' handbag is made of fine, hand-worked woolen needlepoint, probably from France or Austria (the handbag is not marked). Both sides of the bag are the same design, a floral one with a diagonal center stripe; the design has an Art Deco feel. There is a patinated brass frame with a fancy "jeweled" clasp that lifts up to open the purse. The frame's finish shows a bit of wear, but the clasp is in beautiful condition. There is a nice, heavy 12" brass rope chain. This bag measures 7" wide X 6" high X 1 1/2" thick. The lining, in good condition, is a blue rayon taffeta moire. There is a change purse and mirror included with the handbag. The change purse is the same fabric as the lining. Overall, this purse is in fine original condition.
