Here is a turn-of-the-twentieth century ring in 14K gold (marked on the inside of the band) set with a cameo hand-carved from pink coral. The cameo is almost three-dimensional; the face is undercut, defining it nicely; the stone is 1/4" thick. The 7/8" X 1/2" cameo shows head and torso of a woman in profile with a long curl coming from her Victorian hairdo. She is quite pretty. The stone does not show a lot of wear. The stone is prong-set to the mounting with four heavy prongs. The pretty gold mounting is substantial and shows little wear. The ring is a size 8 with two beads on the inside of the band to keep the ring from turning around on one's finger. This ring has probably been sized during its lifetime, but it is otherwise in excellent original condition. It weighs 7.8 grams.
