This beautiful appliqué quilt features a wreath of yellow and pink roses in the center. There are sprays of roses in each corner. The center of the quilt features a quilted rose. The scalloped border is a bright green, the same green as the foliage in the quilt. There is embroidery embellishing the flowers. The piece was made from a kit published in a magazine such as "Ladies Home Journal." Not every woman was a great artist; some of those who were sold their designs to magazines. Kit quilts were very popular during the mid-twentieth century. The maker of this beauty did a very fine job of cutting out the pieces and appliquéing them; her stitches are tiny and nearly invisible. Her hand-quilting is competent at 6 stitches per inch. This quilt dates from between 1950 and 1970. It is 100% cotton, and it is machine washable in cold water. It may be dried in the dryer. This quilt is in excellent original condition, is clean, and is ready to use on your bed. It measures 72" X 86," fitting a twin bed. Just lay it sideways across a full or queen sized bed and decorate the head of the bed with large pillows. This pretty piece was found in the Chicago area.
