Here is a gorgeous Victorian era brooch, dating from around 1880-1890. It is probably English or Scottish; it is not marked. The beautiful banded agate is probably Scottish in origin. Queen Victoria popularized Scottish jewelry during her reign. The pin is a lovely oval shape, beveled around the edge. The bezel has been decorated with engraving. The fittings are original and Victorian; there is a long tube hinge, a C-catch, and a projecting pin bar. The pin is 2" wide and 1 1/2" high. It is in excellent original condition with no scratches or other damage. A depression in the agate on the back of the pin is original, not damage.
