This antique brooch (ca. 1890-1930) is hand-painted porcelain attached by six prongs to a brass backing. It is probably a product of a china-painting class but is skillfully done. The flowers are purple and yellow asters, not commonly seen in these pins, with green foliage. They are superimposed on a black and gold border and trimmed with green leaves. The gold has some wear, noticeable at the bottom of the pin. The center is white with iridescence over it. This charming pin measures 1 3/4" wide by 2 1/8" high. The catch is a C-catch, dating the pin as around 1920 or earlier. The catch is secure. The pin is all original and is in excellent overall condition, except for the wear on the gold border.
