Native American Navaho Turquoise and Shell Nugget Necklace
This lovely old nugget necklace dates from the 1970's, with its natural turquoise nuggets and its tiny, hand-cut shell beads. It has a sterling silver hook and eye clasp with silver collars and two silver beads. It is 33" long. The beautiful turquoise nuggets range in size from 1/4" X 1/2" to 3/4" X 3/4." The nuggets are a rich greenish-blue with brownish-black matrix. They are well matched. Between them are tiny brown and white beads made of shells. The beads vary in width and color and were clearly hand-cut. This piece is probably Navaho. The material it is strung on appears to be leather or gut. This one is a beauty!
