This beautifully constructed Amish quilt has never been used. It is machine-pieced but expertly hand-quilted. The border has a cable design with eight-pointed stars; the grid design is linked tulips. This quilt was found in Southern Michigan. The quilt is modern, made after 1980; the fabrics are cotton polyester. The maroon against black is a dramatic color combination; it is combined with a bright blue backing. The Amish, a Plain People, use no printed fabrics in their quilts. This pattern is called "Tree of Life." The quilt is washable in cold water and may be dried in the dryer on a cool setting. (It does not need cleaning at this time; it is pristine.) The quilt measures 70" wide by 86" long and is shown over a full-sized bed. The quilt is actually a twin size.
