This fantastic set consists of a 15 1/2" long by 3/4" wide link necklace, a 3/4" X 7" long link bracelet, and a pair of 1 5/8" X 5/8" screw-back earrings. The set is Mexican silver, of fine cast construction and high-quality finishing, with an Aztec-inspired design. The maker is Margot Van Voorhies-Carr, or "Margot de Taxco." She is rather well-known; she had her own shop in Taxco for many years, created her own designs, and sold jewelry to Hollywood stars. She was active between 1945 and 1965. From the marks, I believe this set to date around 1950. Her designs are reproduced today, but this set is an original, signed by the artisan. The pieces are in really excellent condition with the recessed blackened areas of each link retaining their color. All clasps are functional. The earrings are screw backs, and so may be adjusted as to tightness. The pieces are rather heavy; the necklace weighs 82.3 grams; the bracelet 40.1 grams, and the earrings 15.5 grams.
