Here is a very pretty hand-decorated brooch dating from between 1890 and 1930, the era when ladies painted china as a hobby. (Some were professional but most were amateurs and their pieces are unsigned.) This piece was probably intended as a keepsake, given to a friend or family member for remembrance. It's workmanship is excellent with the flowers looking detailed and realistic. There is a gold border, and some accent colors of dark red, orange, and green. The ceramic portion is held to a brass backing by 6 prongs; although off-center, the ceramic piece is securely held. The clasp is a C-Catch. This pin measures 1 3/4" high X 1 3/8" wide. It is in excellent original condition.
