This very pretty sauce boat from W. H. Grindley and Sons of England is in the pattern "Melbourne" and dates from between 1891 and 1914. It is in excellent original condition and does not appear to have ever been used. There is no gold. The dark blue, slightly blurry design is an underglaze transfer-type pattern in a pleasing combination of floral and geometric elements. The base is scalloped. There is a floral spray inside the lip of the boat on one side only. This sauce boat measures 8" long, 4" wide and 4" tall.
