This vintage trinket box is made of cardboard with the lid and four sides embellished with shells. These shells are from the Caribbean Sea; boxes like this were souvenirs of Florida or the islands. There is a nice variety of size and shape of shells. They are glued securely. A few have broken, but breakage is minimal. On the top of the lid is an open clam shell with a faux pearl. The box was sprayed with a gold paint when new. Inside, the box has a sandy brown finish. There was a paper on the underside of the lid which has been partially removed. The cloth hinge is intact. The bottom is finished like the inside. This box is 7"X 6" X 3 1/2" tall. There are no markings; this is a craft item. The box is in good vintage condition; damage is quite minor.
