This old quilt top is hand-pieced in the "Drunkard's Path" pattern. This pattern, done in red and white, was a popular one with the ladies of the Temperance Union. They made and sold many quilts of this, and other, designs to help finance the Temperance Movement. Most were made before 1920, the year Prohibition began. This top is 100% cotton. It has been washed and is quite soft, probably having been used as a summer spread. The edge has been nicely finished. It is in good original condition with no condition issues. This hand-sewn patchwork piece measures 66" X 82" and fits a twin bed nicely. It was found in Indiana.
