This large, delicately hand-painted ceramic pin was probably painted by a talented hobbyist of the early twentieth century, when it was the fashion for ladies to decorate china themselves. The pastel design of four violets and green foliage is accented by a pale yellow and gold background area. The ceramic portion is an oval button attached by 6 prongs to a polished brass backing. There is a simple C-catch and long pin bar which help date this pin around 1900-1920. The pin measures 2 5/8" X 1 7/8." The pin is in excellent original condition.
